Raina Kahanu-McNeeley is from Kailua. She adventured beyond Hawaii to earn her B.A. in Early Childhood Education and M.A. in Teaching from Pacific University in Oregon, and to teach for a year in American Samoa. She taught 4th-6th grades for four years before starting at Sunshine School in 2017, where she likes the intimacy of the school's small size and the sense of community she feels with colleagues, children, and families. In her spare time, Raina enjoys photography, being crafty, and spending time out in nature.

Sydney Kalakau was born and raised in Kailua and is a alumni of Sunshine School. She is currently a junior in college, majoring in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Nevada – Reno. She loves the intimacy and sense of community Sunshine School provides and is grateful for the opportunity to learn and teach alongside such bright minds. In her free time, she enjoys relaxing at the beach, spending time with her friends, and being creative.
